As part of WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, the organizers are hosting a conference under the theme “Shaping a Skills-Driven Future.”
The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, who delivered remarks.
The conference brings together experts and representatives to exchange views and share experiences across three key areas:
- Inclusion – Ensuring equal access to quality skills development for all and making sure that vulnerable and disadvantaged groups are not left behind.
- Innovation – Exploring how Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) can adapt to the rapid development of AI and digital technologies, new approaches to teaching and learning, and changing labour market demands.
- International Cooperation and Partnerships – Discussing how countries can share skills systems, standards and best practices, while promoting the mutual recognition of skills and qualifications.
The Mongolian delegation is actively participating in discussions and exchanging experiences on key issues relevant to Mongolia’s future skills development. These include identifying the skills most needed in the country’s future workforce, such as AI, automation, green skills and digital skills; strengthening the responsiveness of TVET curricula to changing labour market needs; and ensuring that teachers have continuous opportunities to acquire new technologies and skills.
Participants are also discussing practical approaches to engaging employers more effectively in the training process and transforming skills development from merely a means of securing employment into a strategic driver of economic competitiveness.
