On September 15, 2026, T. Nyam-Ochir, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education of Mongolia, met with Andrey Alekseevich Korneev, Deputy Minister and State Secretary of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation in general education, the operation of Mongolian-Russian joint schools, the quality of Russian language education, and professional development for teachers.
The sides discussed the progress of the draft intergovernmental agreement regulating the operation of Mongolian-Russian Joint School No. 162. During the 2025–2026 academic year, 15 teachers from the Russian Federation worked at the school under the “Russian Teachers Abroad” programme.
They also discussed the draft intergovernmental agreement aimed at updating the legal framework governing the operation of Mongolian-Russian Joint School No. 3.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on a proposal to provide short-term professional development programmes in Russian educational institutions for a total of 110 Mongolian Russian-language teachers during 2026–2028, as well as ongoing cooperation on teacher professional development with the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia.
Both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening working-level coordination between the two ministries and to sustainably expanding and developing cooperation in the field of general education.
