During his participation in the "Digital Learning Week" held in Paris from September 8–11, 2026, Mongolia's Minister of Education, L. Enkh-Amgalan, met with Professor Qun Chen, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, to discuss scaling up bilateral cooperation in the education sector.
Key areas of discussion and outcomes from the meeting include:
- Capacity Building: Both parties explored opportunities to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Mongolian Institute for Educational Research.
- Ethical AI & Digital Transformation: Discussions focused on developing and implementing policies for the responsible and ethical application of artificial intelligence and digital technology in education.
- TVET Reform: The delegates addressed strategies to align Mongolia's technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system with evolving labor market demands.
- Higher Education Recognition: The meeting highlighted mechanisms to integrate UNESCO’s global policies, methodologies, and international best practices into Mongolia's ongoing reforms regarding the mutual recognition of higher education qualifications.
UNESCO commended the progress and structural reforms currently underway in Mongolia's education sector. Both sides underscored the importance of translating these discussed priorities into concrete, actionable initiatives moving forward.
