The Speaker of the Great Khural, Mr G. Zandanshatar had a meeting today with Mr Jamie Savedra, Director of Education of the World Bank.
Mr. J. Saavedra pointed out that Mongolia implemented a special strategy in the education sector during the epidemic restrictions and successfully provided Mongolia's children and youth with opportunities for continuous education, which became a good international example. At the beginning of the meeting, he expressed his pleasure to continue cooperation through the projects and programs implemented by the World Bank in the education sector at the important time of social and economic recovery after the pandemic.
The Chairman of the National Assembly G. Zandanshatar emphasized that the projects implemented by the World Bank in the field of empowering teachers, strengthening human resources and improving the quality of education have yielded results, and expressed his support for further initiatives to expand cooperation in the education sector.
He also gave information that the State Great Khural is ready to discuss a set of laws in the field that have been discussed and developed by stakeholders over the past 2 years in order to carry out comprehensive legal reforms in the education sector. In this context, it was emphasized that internationally recognized contents such as providing equal access to education, creating a healthy system, supporting teacher development, and introducing a performance-based salary and reward system were reflected.
Mr. J. Saavedra mentioned the importance of reforms in the legal environment for the future development of the sector and exchanged opinions on the use of technology and digital transition, which bring significant changes to the education sector.
