The Lead Editor, the Laureate of the Order of Chinggis Khaan, and Academician D. Dorjgotov and his fellow scholars have presented the updated edition of “National Atlas of Mongolia” to Minister of Education and Science L. Enkh-Amgalan.
He presented the National Atlas along with his fellow scholars, including the Deputy Editor, Dr. D. Battogtokh, Chairman of the National Atlas Committee, the President of the Academy of Science, and Academician D. Regdel and Deputy Chairman of the National Atlas Committee, the Director of Geography and Geoecology Institute of the Academy of Science Dr. A. Dashtseren.
The Minister of Education and Science expressed his gratitude to the scholars for their painstaking efforts and readiness to provide support in publishing and distributing the atlas to educational institutions and the public and converting the atlas into an eBook for promoting science and knowledge.
The Geography and Geoecology Institute of the Academy of Science started updating the “National Atlas of Mongolia” in 2018 and published this updated edition in 2022. The Ministry of Education and Science has thoroughly supported the project from revising and updating stage to publishing.
The third edition of the “National Atlas of Mongolia” has included 246 thematic maps and results of research works. Over 160 experts and researchers from about 30 scientific, governmental, and non-governmental organizations took part in redeveloping maps of the atlas.
The uniqueness of this “National Atlas of Mongolia” is preparing it with a scientific-graphic directory that contains comprehensive information on the territory, administrative structure, natural-geographical conditions, natural resources, population, history, culture, agriculture, and social and economic aspects of our country. The atlas will be published in both Mongolian and English.
