PRIME MINISTER DIRECTS CABINET TO RESOLVE TEACHER AND STAFF SALARY ISSUES AT THE SESSION

Prime Minister of Mongolia N.Uchral visited General Education Schools No. 39 and No. 2 in the capital to meet with representatives of teachers and school staff.

Since the beginning of the year, the salaries of young teachers have increased by approximately 35%. For instance, A.Norovtseren, an English teacher at School No. 39, reported a 29% salary increase, though she noted that she consistently works overtime to earn additional pay.

During the meeting, teachers requested the Prime Minister to repeal Government Resolutions No. 53 and No. 225, which have created ambiguities regarding salaries and per-student variable costs. They also highlighted difficulties in obtaining mortgages due to insufficient income requirements at banks and pointed out that supplemental pay is currently not being calculated based on the increased salary rates.

In response, Prime Minister N.Uchral directed Minister of Education L.Enkh-Amgalan to present and resolve the following issues at next week’s Cabinet meeting:

  • Eliminating the dual concepts of "positional salary" and "base salary" to establish a single, unified salary network.
  • Ensuring that all supplemental pay, compensation, and bonuses are calculated based on the newly increased salary rates.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government fully supports the national program "Liberating Every Mongolian Child from Learning Gaps." He noted that teacher satisfaction and fair compensation are critical to the program's success. He further stated that the Government will prioritize the salaries and social security of current teachers over the construction of new school buildings.

Additionally, General Education School No. 2 has taken the lead in aligning with international standards by becoming a "Google Reference School." Following three months of intensive training, 106 teachers qualified for Google’s intermediate-level certification, and 66 teachers earned advanced-level international certificates.

Prime Minister N.Uchral and Minister of Education L.Enkh-Amgalan presented the Google Certified Educator Level 1 and 2 and Gemini Educator certificates to the teachers. These certified educators will now be able to share experiences with top teachers globally and implement the latest pedagogical methodologies in their school.

The next major step in this partnership includes the distribution of 570 laptops to students. This hardware provision will enable every student to utilize artificial intelligence appropriately in their studies, facilitating a transition to world-class blended learning models.

Concluding his visit, the Prime Minister expressed his commitment to liberating every child from learning gaps and relieving teachers from the burden of excessive reporting requirements.
