MEETING HELD WITH SEONGHWAN CHO, MANAGER OF STARLINK

Minister of Education L.Enkh-Amgalan held a consultative meeting with Mr. Seonghwan Cho, Starlink’s Regional Manager for The Republic of Korea, Japan, and Mongolia, to discuss strategic cooperation within the education sector.

The meeting focused on aligning telecommunication infrastructure with the Government of Mongolia’s current shift toward a high state of disaster preparedness. Key objectives include ensuring effective information dissemination to citizens in risk-prone areas and maintaining seamless communication during potential emergencies.

To achieve this, the Minister has directed officials to enhance the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and increase internet bandwidth for all state and locally-owned general education schools.

While most general education schools in Mongolia are currently connected to the internet via fiber-optic cables, the discussions highlighted the potential of Starlink’s satellite technology to provide reliable, high-speed connectivity to schools in remote provinces and soums, ensuring uninterrupted educational services regardless of geographic isolation.

Representatives from Starlink noted that the company prioritizes health and education within its Corporate Social Responsibility framework. Mr. Seonghwan Cho expressed a positive outlook on the Minister’s proposals and committed to conveying these initiatives to the relevant departments for further implementation.
