BREAKING LANGUAGE BARRIERS: REACHING DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES THROUGH ENGLISH TEACHING PROJECT – II TO BE IMPLEMENTED

Cooperation agreement of the Breaking Language Barriers: Reaching Disadvantaged Communities Through English Teaching Project – II, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and UNICEF, with funding from the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, was signed.

During the signing ceremony, Minister of Education P. Naranbayar emphasized that the results of the first phase of the project have greatly supported the study of English as an additional curriculum from the 3rd grade of general education schools, starting from the 2025-2026 academic year.

The first phase of the project was implemented earlier this year and involved more than 320 English teachers from all sums of Bayan-Ulgii, Bayankhongor, and Sukhbaatar provinces in over 100 hours of training, with 39 percent of participating teachers significantly improving their English language skills. In addition, more than 540 students participated in 15 English conversation clubs in the provinces, and 126 digital devices were handed over to 26 schools in the three provinces, supporting a digital learning environment.

The second phase of the project will be implemented in Bulgan, Arkhangai, Khuvsgul, Khentii, and Dundgovi provinces, and plans to improve the language and teaching skills of more than 450 English teachers, as well as train new mentor teachers.
